Concrete Design

Concrete adds character to the home and can be customized to suit any interior design. In the kitchen, a concrete countertop combines clean, modern style and functional design. The stunning simplicity of an integrated concrete sink blends seamlessly into any bathroom. A concrete fireplace, with its unique texture and colour and striking form, becomes the focal point of the room. Anything’s possible with concrete!

Our casting process involves a specific mix of pigments, concrete and fibreglass that can be molded into unique forms. This mix is both crack-resistant and durable yet lightweight, which allows us to specialize in unique and complex designs that can fit any space. Natural stones such as granite and marble are limited by slab size and are heavy and prone to cracking. Concrete is an engineered product that is both light-weight and strong, and can be used in a much wider variety of applications.

Design Features

We can create custom molded features for any design and space. Using concrete allows us to build in a variety of shapes and think outside the slab.

Our molding process allows us to also incorporate design features such as waterfall edges, drainage boards, and sinks that are integrated into a seamless piece. Talk to us about how we can make your vision a reality.

Textures

Once you have chosen your preferred colour, we encourage you to consider one of the following unique textures. Each texture is the result of a custom casting process, but all textures are sealed and offer the same protection from the elements.

  • Hand Press White

The hand press technique offers the most dramatic texture. Instead of pouring or spraying a wet mixture onto the mold, with this technique, a dry mix is applied by hand leaving large voids which later be filled with a contrasting colour, creating a striking veining effect.

  • Hand Press Red

Any colour or even combination of colours can be added in later processing, after removing the slab from its mold. Or you may choose to leave the voids exposed for an especially raw look and use lighting to highlight the dramatic texture.

  • Two Tone Spray

This is created through a casting technique utilizing casting process that produces a two-tone organic texture.

  • Raw

The “natural concrete” look. Plenty of imperfections and varied texture. Small holes are left open while larger voids are partially filled adding extra texture. Best suited to vertical surfaces where clean ability is less of a concern.

  • Cream

This option is created with minimal processing. It allows a natural flow and texture.

  • Honed

Polishing exposes the fine sand aggregate in the concrete to a subtle texture. This technique makes the concrete more durable with a homogenous texture.

Sealer

Concrete is hard. It’s tough. It’s strong. But it’s also naturally porous, and needs to be sealed. A thin, durable coating offers the best protection. The sealer we use is a reactive water-borne polyurethane. This coating is highly-stain and heat resistant, but will not protect against all forms of damage.
